Long Caye is a lush, Tropical Caribbean Island approximately 650 acres in size, and 2 1/4 miles long, located about 45 miles east/south/east off the coast of Belize City, Belize. It is approximately eight miles fom the world famous Blue Hole dive site, explored by Jacques Cousteau. The Island is situated within the lighthouse Reef Atoll, just east of the Belize Reef, the second largest reef in the world. The Belize Barrier Reer and the Lighthouse Reef Atoll contain some of the most diverse coral reef ecosystems and marine life in the world. The island itself is populated with many exotic species of flora and fauna. Activities in the area include world class deep sea fishing, scuba diving snorkeling, bird watching,canoeing, kayaking, boating, beachcombing and exploring the Island. It is a world class snorkel and dive site. The Aquarium is right in front of the lot. There is a constant breeze at the seafront to make it cool. Lot 134 is a commercial lot. You may build up to 50% of the lot size. It would be good for a B& B, diving lodge, shop or restaurant. Accomodations are around $250 per night all inclusive.Local Privately owned boats carry passengers to and from Belize Princess Marina Hotel and Long Caye which takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. It is every Wednesday and Saturday or on demand. There is a helicopter pad on the Island to fly in between. You may have your own boat for your business to transport. Many diving companies are also there from San Pedro every day and could drop people off. Belize city vendors deliver food to the ferry boats on demand. Fisherman on island would sell fresh fish daily.The whole Island is self- sustained with a rain water catchment, composting toilet and solar power systems.

A Brief summary of these Eco-Guidlines follows.
Annual Community Association dues are $250/year for residential and US$500 for commercial properties.
Commercially zoned parcels may rise up to 50% of the parcels square footage for building and decking.Clearing of parcels is allowed upon ERB approval to facilitate placement of approved buildings.Water, power and waste treatment systems must be ecologically sustainable and must be approved by the developer and it's Environmental Review Board (ERB) along with the all building plans.

Typically, these needs are met with rainwater collection, solar/wind power systems and composting or digesting system toilets.
